New-VsanFaultDomain

This cmdlet creates a new vSAN fault domain in a cluster with specified virtual machine hosts.

Syntax

Parameters

Name
String named Specifies the name of the new vSAN fault domain. The name should be unique within a cluster. The length of fault domain name should not exceed 256 characters.

VMHost[] named

  • Specifies the list of virtual machine hosts to become part of the fault domain. These hosts should be in same cluster.

    RunAsync
    SwitchParameter named Indicates that the command returns immediately without waiting for the task to complete. In this mode, the output of the cmdlet is a Task object. For more information about the RunAsync parameter run "help About_RunAsync" in the VMware PowerCLI console.

    Server
    VIServer[] named
  • wildcards
  • Specifies the vCenter Server systems on which you want to run the cmdlet. If no value is provided or $null value is passed to this parameter, the command runs on the default servers. For more information about default servers, see the description of Connect-VIServer.

    Example 1

    New-VsanFaultDomain -VMHost $vmHost1, $vmHost2 -Name "MyFaultDomainName"

    Creates a new vSAN fault domain named "MyFaultDomainName", which has virtual machine hosts $vmHost1 and $vmHost2.
